What is a Trust Score? How Veriq Calculates Business Trust — Veriq
Learn how Veriq calculates trust scores for Nigerian businesses. Understand the 6-factor formula: reviews, volume, proof, reviewer maturity, business longevity, and transaction history.
What is a Trust Score?
A Veriq Trust Score is a number from 0 to 100 that represents how trustworthy a business is based on customer reviews, verified transactions, and other factors. It is algorithmically calculated and cannot be bought or manipulated.
Score Ranges
70-100 (High Trust) — Strong track record with multiple verified reviews. Safe to transact with confidence.
40-69 (Moderate Trust) — Building reputation. Proceed with reasonable caution.
0-39 (Low Trust) — Very new or few reviews. Do additional research before committing.
How the Trust Score is Calculated
The trust score is computed from six weighted factors:
Rating Quality (30%) — Weighted average of all review ratings. Verified buyers carry more weight.
Review Volume (25%) — How many reviews the business has received, using a logarithmic curve.
Proof Credibility (15%) — Percentage of reviews that include proof of transaction.
Reviewer Maturity (10%) — Percentage of reviewers who have been on Veriq for more than 30 days.
Business Longevity (10%) — How long the business has been registered on Veriq.
Transaction History (10%) — Number of completed escrow transactions and verified deals.
The Confidence Multiplier
A confidence multiplier based on review count prevents inflated scores. With 1 review, the raw score is reduced to approximately 35%. With 8+ reviews, the full score applies.
